Become A Sower
What are you sowing in your life? In the Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:1-9), Jesus reminded his disciples that God calls us all to use the gifts He has given us to produce good things. The metaphor Jesus used was that we are all sowers who have been given seeds by God (resources, gifts, talents, abilities, etc.) to sow, which will hopefully grow into an abundance of good things depending on where we sow them.
The problem we all face, which I believe Jesus points out to the disciples, is that we are often too afraid to use our gifts or to give away our resources for fear of not having enough leftover for ourselves. But Jesus promised the disciples in Matthew 6:33 that when a person pursues the things of God's kingdom above everything else that "all these things will be given to you as well." "All these things" are the things we are worried we won't have or attain in this life.
God is calling you and I to become sowers who aren't worried about not having enough for ourselves. If we are worried that we will not have enough, then we have placed our faith in our things and not in our God. He wants us to trust that when we sow our seed for His kingdom, He will, as a reward of our faith in Him, give us His abundant provision for everything we need in this life. Therefore, our concern doesn't need to be what we think we won't have. Rather, our concern needs to be that we have sowed too little in the things that matter to God in the course of our life.
Let's become sowers in faith together, sowing seed that will fall on God's good soil that will produce a hundred times more than what we anticipated it would produce!
Becoming sowers in faith with you!
